Too Many Hats

As a consumer, I value convenience greatly. The concept of accessing comprehensive services in one location is appealing. However, as a business owner, the feasibility of offering an extensive array of services can be challenging. Many aspects of my business demand ongoing education, training, and license renewals. Increasing the scope of services adds to the non-revenue generating tasks I must manage. In the notary industry, there are many, many different side hustles. All of this sounds great on the surface until I realized that I will just have to send updated credentials to more companies every year.

Sometimes, we have to know when to pivot! Recently, I made the strategic decision to niche down in my notary business. This focus doesn't eliminate the routine non-revenue tasks, but it prevents additional non-essential responsibilities. William Shakespeare once wrote, "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." I believe in excelling in a few areas rather than spreading myself too thin across many.
